Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person scientific workshop entitled “Diabetes Mellitus: Types, Symptoms, and Prevention” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Sonia Emad Naser, a faculty member at the Clinical Laboratory Department.

The scientific workshop aimed to enhance awareness about diabetes mellitus, explain its pathophysiology, highlight early diagnostic methods, and shed light on its major complications and prevention strategies.

The workshop included several topics, including introduction to diabetes mellitus and its types, clinical signs and symptoms of the disease, diagnostic approaches including HbA1c and glucose tolerance testing, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment strategies.

The workshop concluded with the importance of improving community awareness regarding diabetes mellitus, promoting early screening, adopting a healthy lifestyle, maintaining treatment adherence, and regularly monitoring for potential complications.
